At primary podcast project, we know how strange it can seem to switch from the primary school to the secondary school.

Everything seems different, and it can be so confusing.  Imagine what it must be like then to see a school in a different country, half way around the world.

Schools in the Louth area of Lincolnshire (UK) are working with schools - primary and secondary - in Uganda and Nigeria.  The aim is to get children working alongside each other…at least on the Internet…and share best practice. Now, with the project well underway, some headteachers came from Nigeria to see what a UK classroom was really like.  And they brought some dancers and drummers with them…

It’s summer 2010 and Year Six and thinking more and more about the switch to the Big School.   There have been taster days in the past weeks at local secondary schools offering a peek at what will happen in September. We hear now from children at North Cockerington Primary…

Time now for the second part of the Healthy Schools Day at Kidgate Primary School in Louth…

So we now have at least some output from a couple of primary schools on the site with more to follow - it’s all part of an experiment in how easy/difficult it may be to generate audio in schools.  Crucial to this is the raising of skills in content creation. Parrellel is how educators can use the skills learned to enhance learning in the classroom.

Britain through the Decades is the last production from the children at Donington primary this school year.  Singing, acting - all there as you would expect with some literacy, history, teambuilding and all that other stuff which just happens to happen with a project like this.

Above all else, of course, it’s good old fashioned fun.

It’s all here: Live Aid, Michael Jackson’s Thriller and even Judy Garland.  We’ve split this into two just to make it a little more bite-size.  Hope you like it - and the children and staff certainly hope you enjoyed the on-stage production, if you were lucky enough to attend…

The YEAR TWO children at Kidgate Primary in Louth have spent weeks now preparing for the Potato Challenge at this years Lincolnshire Show.  They saw how potatoes grew down on the farm and even had personal tips on how to create the best potato salad from one of this years BBC Masterchef finalists.

More on that later.  But first the children visited the Show and heard more about a three stone tortoise…

The Primary Podcast Project is all about giving primary schools in Lincolnshire - and around Louth in particular - the chance to celebrate what they do.  So on this site will be all kinds of audio and blogs - and that’s because it’s all down to what the children want to say.  They are all under 12.

On top of that, teachers in the schools taking part, have a chance to share best practice, ideas, lessons, thoughts and just generally keep in contact with colleagues in other parts of rural Lincolnshire.  The Primary Podcast Project is a pilot for what might happen in the future.  It’s about connecting scattered rural primary’s and giving them a shared sense of belonging.  We hope they enjoy taking part, and you enjoy listening.
